Save your duckets and get an X6! My guitar center sells 'em all day for $1500+tax (San Diego) I got my X7 for $1800+tax new in the box. As Roland revisit the Juno name once again, we look at whether their latest offering is a serious contender, or merely a bantamweight Fantom. The MO sounds great, but is only 64 voices the piano alone will eat it up with sustain pedal. So, play 'em all, and my greatest advice is to stay away from the TR- it's a lot of cheap samples in a cheaper plastic case when you listen to its sounds dry, it's horrible. He is extremely knowledgeable with music technology, and clearly explains almost all the aspects of the Juno-G synth. The trainer, David Wills, is an amazing instructor. It is very thorough and laid out in a logical way from beginning to end. Activate or enable the Juno-Gi in your music software. This is a wonderful training DVD for the Roland Juno-G synth. On a PC, open the Device Manager and confirm that the Juno-Gi is listed under 'Sound, video, and game controllers.' 3. Sound for sound the Roland will win, although the piano on the MO is comparable to the X6 piano which the Xa and Juno don't get. On a Macintosh, look in the Audio MIDI Setup utility and confirm that the Juno-Gi is listed in both the Audio Device and the MIDI Studio window. The XA is a little better IMO, but has quite a cheap keybed. If you don't mind the smallish keys on the Juno, it looks great and is a lot of fun. Great sounds, though, but terrible sequencer implementation. The TR has absolutely horrible, wobbly keys that feel sharp on the edges, and the MO6 has the worst feeling keys I've ever felt. The Xa has normalish keys, but they're very shallow and plasticky. The Juno has very small keys, although they feel pretty good. After the release of Roland's step-in-the-right-direction Gaia earlier this year, we were hoping that the 'new Juno' would be a call-back to the brand's. Then came the G (the D's bigger brother with more sounds and features) and now the Gi. How important is keybed to you? If it is, save a little and get a used X6. To quickly put things into context, the Juno-D was the first of the new digital Juno's followed by the Di. I have an X7 in the collection now, but it sounds the same. First, let me suggest looking at the Fantom XA- not the best keys, but it does have pad triggers, which can be huge.
